Sutton At Liberty Harbor

Liberty Harbor North

Exciting things are happening this week in the Liberty Harbor Development. First, a large swath of land south of the light rail station along Jersey Avenue has been cleared, presumably for the next phase of construction.

More land has been cleared for the next phase of the Liberty Harbor North development in Downtown Jersey City

The second exciting bit of news is the ground breaking for another large building, known for now as building #2 on the official Liberty Harbor website. Below, building #2 has been highlighted:

A large dirt pile has amassed in the distant regions of the Liberty Harbor property; whiles its hard to see here, its probably 2 or 3 stories high:

Liberty Harbor Gets Patriotic

Liberty Harbor North, the massive planned community in Jersey City is rapidly moving towards opening the first phase of the project. That means its time for detail work like decorative features. Apparently someone in the design department went star crazy:

The Sutton at Liberty Harbor

The Sutton is one of several larger buildings being constructed during the first phase of the Liberty Harbor North development. The building sits on the newly created Liberty View Terrace, which is essentially an extension of Barrow Street. Looking east from the Jersey Avenue light rail station provides a good view of the front of the building.

Liberty Harbor North

Liberty Harbor North in Jersey City, New Jersey, is a new urbanist community being built adjacent to the historic downtown and within sight of lower Manhattan

Two of the larger buildings in the complex, the Sutton and the Lofts, are finally coming together.

The Sutton and the Lofts at Liberty Harbor are just two of several larger buildings planned for the first phase of the planned community

Detail work such as the railing have been added to the town homes as of late:

Liberty Harbor will offer a mix of full service buildings and individual town house units

Liberty Harbor North extends the cities existing grid, though the new streets have different names then their existing corresponding roads

Liberty Harbor North

Liberty Harbor North

Liberty Harbor North continues to progress with rumors that buyers will begin closing on units at the end of June. Below, the skyline of the new development from Jersey Avenue.

The Lofts and the Sutton are the first of several larger buildings planned for the first phase of Liberty Harbor. The Sutton has most of its frame, the lofts still just expose steel.

The Sutton is the first of several mid-rise condominium buildings planned for the first phase of Liberty Harbor North. Progress on the exterior has been relatively slow for the last few weeks on the Sutton though we doubt this is the result of any slow down in construction in Liberty Harbor as a whole.

Liberty Harbor North

The north west corner of development along Grand Street is nearly complete on the outside, with the exception of landscaping.



At the corner of Barrow Street, new street signs have been hung from the recently installed traffic lights.



Liberty View Drive connects Liberty Harbor North with Grand Street. Liberty View Drive is part of the existing city grid system and would otherwise be called Barrow Street:

Liberty Harbor: Traffic Lights Installed



Traffic signals have been installed on Grand Street at the intersection of Barrow and the new Liberty Harbor Street, presumably to allow traffic out of the new complex. This could lead to quite a bit of traffic running north out of the complex past Van Vorst Park.

Lofts at Liberty Harbor

Though we're not positive, we do believe this skeleton is what will eventually become The Lofts at Liberty Harbor. Situated next to the light rail line, this is another mid-rise tower across the newly built street from the Sutton.

The Sutton at Liberty Harbor

Liberty Harbor



Along Grand street, two older buildings were preserved and incorporated into the new construction. Here, the one structure has received new windows and street facade. While the aesthetic of the newer buildings certainly could be debated, it seems they have done a halfway decent job on this restoration.

Liberty Harbor North

Looking east from Jersey Avenue, the Liberty Harbor Skyline is beginning to look like a little city:



Below, the first two eight story towers in Liberty Harbor North. The development will get taller as it gets closer to the Morris Canal.



Heading east down Grand Street, this is the first new street past the sales office. Note the curb has been poured here as well, though not the sidewalk.
