Newport's Aqua

We'd love to be showing off the extensive progress being made at Newport's Aqua / Aqublu / Aquablue Tower, but unfortunately, the Newport Rent-a-cops have decided to prohibit photography from Newport's public sidewalks. Below would be looking north from River Drive at Newport Parkway, just east of the Shore Club.

Aqua

The Aqua in Newport continues to have pilings pounded into the ground.

Hopefully once the Shore Club opens fully, we'll have better access to the Aqua site. Until now, we're shooting through a fence a few hundred feet away:

Aqua

Pilings continue being drilled into the ground for Aqua. Or Aqua Blu. Or Blu. So many variations on the name Aqua are floating around the internet tubes its hard to keep track.

Construction on Aqua, in Newport, Jersey City, began a few weeks ago, though mostly has been simple pilings so far

Aqua is going up directly in front of Shore Club.

Aqua

The newest Newport rental building broke ground a few weeks back, though with construction of the Shore Club still on going, getting a good vantage point is rather difficult. Here though, we see that pilings for the Aqua (or the Aqua Blu, depending on which name has been finalized), pounded in the ground:

Aqua

Pilings everywhere! It seems that the Aqua will is quickly going to move to the erection phase. With the Shore Club wrapping up construction-- glass has started to be installed on the north west side of the North Tower, Lefrak is going to be concentrating efforts on the new rental building just in front of Shore Club. Below, the view from the Hudson River Walkway where a gate has kept us from getting any closer. Presumably when the Shore Club and Riverside Market open later this year, we'll be able to get a bit closer. In either case, it won't be long, we think, before the Aqua rises high enough off the ground that our current vantage point will provide a pretty clear view anyway.

Aqua

Discuss the Aqua and other projects in the NewYorksSixth.com Jersey City discussion forums

From just east of the Holland Tunnel vent, the River walk has been extended north by about two dozen yards. Besides the construction for Aqua, it seems that the Ellipse might also be moving forward.

Looking north along River Drive, we can see a privacy fence directly east of Shore Club; also a pile driver on the left and a piling just left of the tunnel vent.

It seems that Aqua's pilings are starting to go in:

Aqua Arrives

The Aqua tower, a rental building situated between the Shore Club and the Hudson River may very well have broken ground last week. The site certainly appears to have been cleared and along the extension of River Drive in front of the Shore Club, a privacy fence has been installed. In the below photo, the site of the building cleared of debris with the Shore Club to the west (left side) and Hoboken visible in the north (right side):
