Metropolis Towers

The Metropolis Towers construction has been on hiatus for the last few months. Ever since they quickly removed the low rise structure connecting the two towers, construction all but stopped.

Eventually, the center area between the buildings will likely be a mid-rise parking garage, and the property along Columbus Drive, where the camera is, will have two new 25 story towers.

Metropolis Towers Future Configuration

There has been much speculation over what is being built, what has been proposed, and what is just rumor over at the Metropolis Towers ever since demolition of the low-rise retail strip connecting the two existing towers began a few weeks back.

Emporis, the internet treasure trove of skyscraper information, lists three phases of construction. Referencing architectural renderings from DMR Architects, we created a map of the future expansion. The maps are speculative. By no means is it certain that this is the final site plan, if and when any part of this complex is built. Directly below is a map of the current configuration. Below that a map of the future expansion.

Metropolis Towers

Metropolis Towers Demolition

The Metropolis Towers will soon have another two buildings on the lot replacing the walkway and strip mall that once connected the two older buildings. From Montgomery Street looking North, it is clear that the demolition of the previous structure is nearly complete.

Below, the low rise portion of the Columbus Tower is seen on the far side of Christopher Columbus Drive while the site of the new Metropolis Towers is in the foreground.

Metropolis Towers

The aging Metropolis Towers it seems will soon be gaining two more friends. A passageway and strip mall that connected the two towers has been demolished.
