109 Columbus

109 Columbus is a smaller, mixed use apartment / retail building going in on Columbus Drive. The building had been making great progress for a while, but recently has slowed its pace of construction. The foundation and basement walls seem to have gone up so far:

109 Columbus Drive

109 Columbus drive is a small mixed use building three lots west of Grove Street. The 10,000 square feet of retail in the base is rumored to be a "wellness center" which sounds to us like some place hippies go for herbal medicines. Apartments will fill out the top of the building, no word as to whether they will be rentals or condominiums. The lot had been a parking lot a few months back, and this is a major step forward into building an urban landscape down Columbus Drive.

109 Christopher Columbus Drive

We mentioned this little development a while back. Located just west of Grove Street on Columbus Drive, the 18 residential unit mixed use building will also have 10,000 square feet of retail space. Christopher Columbus Drive has been relatively dormant as far as redevelopment and investment in new construction goes. This building, a half block away from the proposed Columbus Corner, might very well be the beginning of a new era of Columbus Drive, assuming the Columbus Corner Project breaks ground this summer.

Meanwhile, as late as December last year, this site was a commuter parking lot by day, and a place that collected the homeless by night. Now there is a big hole in the ground:

109 Christopher Columbus Drive

It seems this small lot on Christopher Columbus Drive is about to become a mixed-use building. Once a commuter parking lot, heavy equipment was moved in a few weeks back. Now it seems they've broken ground. Apparently the building will included 10,000 feet of retail and 18 residential units.
