70 Hudson Street

A twin with 90 Hudson Street, 70 Hudson is part of the Colgate Center redevelopment project of Jersey City's Waterfront along Hudson Street. The design reflects a modern interpretation of classical elements-- a classic colonnaded portico surrounds the base of the building, though this has been filled with glass. The three part facade also recalls nineteenth and early twentieth century American architecture, which of course also looked back to classic buildings for inspiration.

Fifteen Exchange Place

One of the most beautiful buildings on the waterfront, Fifteen Exchange Place is also one of the oldest. The elegant decoration of the building makes its newer neighbors such as Exchange Place Center, just across the street, look like gaudy glass boxes. At the moment Merrill Lynch has offices here.

Adjacent to the Grove Street PATH, this highrise tower essentially bridges the gap between the old Jersey City and the newer, downtown Financial district. One block to the west begins the historic districts, and one block to the east, modern skyscrapers rise along the water. The generic design is a simple one meant to maximize floor space. The office tower is managed by Mack-Cali.
