Fresh Groceries Coming Soon, Eventually

A grocery store is planned for the base of 77 Hudson Street in Downtown Jersey City

For almost a year, signs on the base of 77 Hudson Street have promised fresh groceries coming soon. The only evidence that work continues are the piles of yellow construction permits attached to the window, as evidenced by the not-to-straight photo:

Paulus Hook residents have long complained about a lack of grocery stores in the neighborhood. Small scale deli groceries have been available but nothing quite of the size and presumed scope of what’s headed for the base of 77 Hudson Street.

Meanwhile, last summer another similarly sized grocery store opened a block south in the southeast corner of the Liberty Towers. After the long dearth of grocery stores, it seems Paulus Hook is soon to be awash in luxury groceries. There still isn’t really a time line on when all this will be open.
