Newport’s Laguna is a proper high rise tower now, rising to what appears to be its full 17 stories.
The rental market in Jersey City is coming back and no better evidence of this is the construction of a new residential tower in the Newport section of Jersey City. The Lefrak organization is notoriously conservative with development projects often self financing and progressing as market conditions dictate.
The next buildings in the Newport development will likely break ground in the coming months in the northern most corner of the property according to the Hudson Reporter.
Newport Associates have won another battle to erase historical connections to Jersey City with the renaming of the Pavoina/Newport PATH station to simply “Newport.”
The Long Slip Pedestrian bridge and connecting segment of the waterfront walkway in front of Newport opened to foot traffic, at least unofficially. The bridge links Hoboken to Jersey City. Surprisingly, no red ribbons were injured in the opening of the bridge.
